Overview:
The movie is based on the infamous "Stanford Prison Experiment" conducted in 1971. A makeshift prison is set up in a research lab, complete with cells, bars and surveillance cameras. For two weeks 20 male participants are hired to play prisoners and guards. The 'prisoners' are locked up and have to follow seemingly mild rules, and the 'guards' are told simply to retain order without using physical violence. Everybody is free to quit at any time, thereby forfeiting payment. In the beginning the mood between both groups is insecure and rather emphatic. But soon quarrels arise and the wardens employ ever more drastic sanctions to confirm their authority.

IMO:
i heard about the stanford prison experiment from neo last time, and it was pretty intriguing that something so inhumane can be happening real life... u always think that it only happens in fiction, guess what, it does happen in reality too... if u didnt know about the incident b4 watching the movie, u may not understand the movie fully... like what the movie is trying to tell u... its basically trying to show the psychological changes ppl go thru given certain circumstances... perfectly normal ppl can be transformed to excessively violent or completely submissive, depending on u are the guard or the prisoner...

reading about it is one thing, watching it is another thing, especially when u get to see how they really behave, better than just looking at pictures... of cos the director go n screw the story a bit la, end up the guard want to rape one of the assistants in the project...

4 out of 5 snoopys... it could have gotten full marks but i feel something is missing from the movie, not sure what it was though... a pretty good watch... check out the black box scene!
